Is there any difference between glazing on canvas and glazing on wood?

The main difference is texture. If you are painting on a coarse canvas, the glaze will settle into the weave a bit more and show up as the texture of the canvas. Of course, if you are applying the paint heavily, the surface of the board or canvas won't be as much of a factor.
