“Hell Yes!” and “No!” are the answers to the visual and emotional questions we ask ourselves as we work. These are the desired answers to the questions of what to keep and what to discard in the process of making our art. These answers are given in response to the following questions…Is this working? Should I make it a light value or a dark value? Is this shape big enough? Is this color bright enough?

We don’t want to shrug our shoulders and say “kind-of” or “sort of.”  We want to say “Hell Yes!” and if not, then the answer is “No!” We want our art to be strong. Becoming clear about what is working and what is not working will help streamline your art making process and provide you with more potent finished work.
