No - once the wax is applied, you cannot come back and paint on it with acrylic paint. The wax finish is removable, however, with mineral spirits and dishwashing soap. Apply the mineral sprits with paper towels to "melt" the wax. Use a slightly abrasive sponge or fine steel wool to loosen the wax. Then, wipe off with absorbent paper towels. Do this process twice to be sure you've removed all the wax. A final wash with warm, soapy water, and towel drying should do the trick. Remember that acrylic paint will not stick to anything that is waxy or oily, this is why this waxy finish must be removed before painting on top with acrylic paints.
